Recycling!

Back in 2020 we joined an amazing organisation called Green Salon Collective which involves us collecting all the typical salon waste and sending it off to be properly recycled. Have you ever said to your stylist how much a shame it is that all those hair cuttings can’t be put to use? Ive had it said to me many times and its so great knowing that now it is. And what better use than recycling!

We have a few white bins dotted around the salon, for hair, metals, PPE and chemicals.

Im sure you’re wondering at this point what happens to each of them.

Well hair is collected and made into hair booms! They’re used to stop oil spillages in the sea and preventing danger to the wildlife and sea creatures.

In fact there was an oil spill in Northern Ireland in 2021 and these guys supplied the hair booms that stopped the oil.

Colour chemicals are taken to incineration and burned to ash which then produces heat and energy for the National Grid!

They recycle used foil, cans of styling products like hairspray and empty colour tubes.
